Timothy Lewis Thornton
grew up in West Somerset, where he was taught piano by Keith Jones and,
briefly, by Kenneth Weir. In 2004 he was Young Recitalist in the 40th
Exmoor Music Festival.
In 2005 he attended Uppingham National Young Pianist Week and was selected as one of four laureates for a London recital; the following year he returned to Uppingham as Composer in Residence, and workshopped his piece Two Aubades and a Lullaby with the Gould Trio. Timothy began a music degree at Pembroke College, Cambridge, but pursued other interests (among them bookbinding, crossword-setting, and running a small poetry press); since then he has continued to give solo and chamber concerts and work with singers, accompanying and coaching. He recently acted as repetiteur for a production of Janácek's The Cunning Little Vixen conducted by Tom Seligman. |
